HOW TO MAKE COFFEE IN A FRENCH PRESS?

Materials
French press
Fresh beans
Coffee grinder
Fresh water
Kettle

Measurements
We recommend 2 tablespoons of coffee per cup of water. For the bold ones, use more. And for the not-so-bold… you get it.

Step 1
BOIL CLEAN, COLD WATER.
Let it rest for at least 30 seconds after boiling.

Step 2
GRIND THE BEANS COARSELY AND ADD THE COFFEE TO THE FRENCH PRESS.

Step 3
FILL THE FRENCH PRESS WITH THE DESIRED AMOUNT OF WATER.

Step 4
WATCH THE COFFEE “BLOOM.”
Psst. Fresh coffee blooms better.

Step 5
STIR THE GROUNDS.

Step 6
LET IT BREW FOR 4–5 MINUTES.
Go read a book about birds. Do a little stretch.

Step 7
PRESS GENTLY.
Use a circular motion to make sure the grounds are just barely covered.

Step 8
POUR. SAVOR. ENJOY.

Step 9
REPEAT. SHARE. WAKE UP AND GO.

Grind
Grind your fresh beans right before using. French press brewing requires a coarse grind, between 0.75 mm and 1 mm.
If the grind is too coarse, the coffee will taste weak. If it’s too fine, it may taste bitter or overly strong. For the most consistent results, we recommend using a burr grinder.

What is blooming?
The bloom is part of the process where CO₂ gases are released from the grounds as soon as water comes into contact with them. This causes the grounds to expand and “bloom.” It’s the sign that the brewing has begun.

How does French press compare to drip coffee?
French press is a slower, more intimate method that extracts more flavor from the grounds compared to drip coffee. While it can take around 10 minutes (boiling, grinding, blooming, brewing, serving), it offers a much richer experience.
